The Director Aircraft Design Integration is leading for legacy-, new programme and Research- and Technology projects the Core Competence Teams for Aircraft configuration management including digital mock-up (DMU) structure, systems and cabin design integration, product life cycle data management and mechanical and electrical systems installation design.

The responsibility is to build the competences and resource to secure the deliverables of the teams. This includes the methods, processes and tools required to execute the activities along the product life cycle from early Research and concepts phases, programme development and continuous product support.

The position responsibility includes the processes and delegations complient with the design organisation for the relevant perimeter. The Head of a Core Competence Unit is responsible for strategic decisions to ensure future benchmark positioning concerning competences, way of working such as agile and lean approaches. This includes the continuous assessment of necessary capabilities and improvements such as digital data usage.

  • Establish and optimise a lean process for product digitalisation and data management including configuration management complient with airworthiness and design organisation process and methods supported by Dassault 3Dx experience. 
  • Ramp up the required Aircraft Design Integration competences and capabilities according defined processes, deliverables.
  • Leading disciplinary a competence unit within Engineering organisation with the dedicated departments and teams including competence management and training concept.
  • Implement programme and projects requirements into a resource planning including core and non-core activities and a healthy sub-contracting policy
  • Ensures adequate technical, process and procedure training and expertise of the engineering team.
  • Implement and support company strategy with proper positioning of the airframe engineering according future needs and trends.

 

You’ll bring this with you

  • Educated Engineering degree (MA Eng/Sc) in aeronautics / aviation or mechanical
  • 10+ years professional experience in relevant fields of aircraft development and product requirements
  • Proven leadership experience and skill in managing an organisation with departments.
  • Wide proficiency of airframe and systems installation requirements and methods,  familiar of processes to use digital mock-up for design integration assessment (e.g. clash analysis, separation and segregation rules, particular risk analysis).
  • New product development experience at least of one new aircraft programme
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to prioritise, manage and execute multiple simultaneous tasks
  • Assertive, pro-active, innovative and creative
