This is what you can do

The Chief Engineer (CE) works interdisciplinary at aircraft level and is responsible that the following tasks be carried out:

  • Aircraft configuration development
  • Definition of the way of working within Chief Engineering (Engineering Governance)
  • Definition of the logical sequence of the necessary development steps (development logic) in line with the configuration definition, the DO [design organisation] processes and the program needs
  • Preparation of the Engineering WBS - work streams (so-called swim lanes) and individual work packages (WBS) following the development logic
  • Benchmarking of business case inputs provided by the engineering directorates
  • Aircraft configuration description, main data sheet and air vehicle specification (clean sheet: baseline definition, derivative: change description) – Lead for: advanced design, support for: engineering directorates
  • Preparation of SOWs and SLAs for each of the work packages defined in the WBS: Lead for project engineering; support for: engineering directorates
  • Preparing the necessary engineering input for the business case: headcount, input for other direct costs and schedule. Lead for project engineering; support for engineering directorates
  • Aircraft level requirements: break-down from the business and market requirements, and derived from design choices on aircraft level
  • Product breakdown structure
  • Definition of physical and functional interfaces

You’ll bring this with you

  • Engineering degree (MA Eng/Sc, Dr./PhD.) in aeronautics/aviation or mechanical engineering
  • 20+ years professional expertise in propulsion and propulsion aircraft integration throughout the development phases and life-cycle of several Part 25 aircraft
  • Wide proficiency of powerplant certification requirements, design criteria, materials, methods and tools
  • New aircraft development experience (CS25); available signature delegations and/or CVE is a plus
  • Leads and instructs internal and external complex tasks
  • Very good presentation, communication and leadership skills
