This is what you can do
The Deputy Chief Engineer works alongside the Chief Engineer in his/her day to day activities on the Dornier 328 In-service program. At aircraft level, the Deputy Chief Engineer overlooks the all the essential disciplines ensuring the technical integration of the on-going and future schedules.
The Deputy CE is responsible and accountable for the following:
- Drives strategic direction of products and services,
- Defines product roadmaps in collaboration with Product Line Management and Program Management
- Develops Integrated Project Plans (IPP) from creation through approval.
- Defines team and project roles/responsibilities, and identifies issues and risks
- Assures mission success within established risk exposure levels
- Engages and works closely with engineering functional leads to ensure accountability in meeting established commitments and deadlines
- Drives engineering productivity performance improvements by providing inputs into project management processes, tools, and methodologies
- Advocatess for a balanced delivery approach (technical, cost, schedule, risk) within program, stakeholder and customer communities ensuring collaboration with national and international authorities
- Leads, communicates and coordinates critical technical events
- Serves as the primary program interface for charter and approval of technical reviews across the program to and from the customers and facilitate integration
- Applies engineering standards ensuring compliance with customer and industry requirements
- Assists customer in demonstration of compliance with technical standards, effective engineering processes, mission assurance, design assurance, parts-processes-materials programs, quality, audit and internal integration, test and verification activities
- Delivers solutions to product obsolescence and critical part shortages
- Adheres to processes as described in the DOH / VA
- Defines SOW’s and SLA’s for each WP jointly with the Chief Engineer and the other functional organization
- Liaise with customer support, sales & marketing, as well as supply chain, maintenance and production organizations
You’ll bring this with you
- Bachelor’s or Master’s of Science in Aircraft or Mechanical Engineering
- 10+ years of experience in dhief engineering positions, technical project engineering, or project planning with an aircrat OEM
- Extremely strong engineering background with respect to Aircraft Operation, Flight Physics, Aircraft Systems and Aircraft Structures
- Solid background with aircraft engineering and development processes and tools
- Good knowledge of aeronautical regulations (i.e. CS/JAR/FAR Part 23/25/27/29) and industry standards (i.e. ISO, NAS, MS, ASTM, etc.)
- Self-starter, ability to work independently, show strong judgment, be decisive, and work with others to drive towards a common solution
- Leadership capability to guide multi-functional engineering teams without formal supervisory role
